I know a lot of people stayed home today, because the 2nd Annual Beer Run kicking off Annapolis Beer Week seemed less fun in the rain.
Well, sorry if that was you, because you were incorrect.
Yes, it was cold. And it was pouring rain. And it was ridiculously muddy. But it was a fantastic time. Everyone was dancing, dressed up in ridiculous costumes, drinking beer and rockin’ out to some cover band playing “(You Gotta) Fight for Your Right (To Party!)” by the Beastie Boys. Heck, I even had an unlimited supply of Duck Duck Goose Porter from Eastern Shore Brewing on draft to keep me warm after the race.
There was some running too, of course — I had a nice, soggy 18-minute(ish) mile. But hey, I ran the whole thing in Christmas pajamas without falling on my face in the mud, so whatever. I’m going to call it a win.
Man, what a good day.
Oh, before I forget: Thank you to the guys who pushed my car out when it got stuck in the mud as I was leaving. I never found out their names, and I didn’t even ask for help. As soon as I started spinning my wheels, these guys just ran over and started directing me on how to get out. Within five minutes, I was on the way home.
P.S. When I got home, I may or may not have changed out of my race pajamas… into other pajamas.
